Press releases menu

J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors is marketing a prominent landmark town
centre hotel and public house in Stranraer for £325,000.

The George Hotel is situated close to Stranraer's new Waterfront
development and occupies a prominent position in the town centre on George
Street, with an extensive return frontage to Church Street, in what is
recognised as one of the town's main shopping districts.

Ian Young, an Associate at J&E Shepherd, said, "The Category B Listed
George Hotel is a substantial property situated in a prominent position in
the centre of Stranraer. In need of renovation and refurbishment, the
hotel offers an excellent development opportunity for commercial and/or
residential type uses."

The George Hotel, located at 49-53 George Street, is a substantial three
storey hotel building and public house, which was understood to have been
reconstructed in 1876, incorporating an earlier Georgian building.

The accommodation includes: hotel reception; residents' lounge; dining
room (currently a snooker room); kitchen; restaurant/takeaway and a public
house on the ground floor. At first floor level there is a function room,
a small kitchen together with owners' accommodation or staff bedrooms.

The guest accommodation is arranged over the first and second floors, and
comprises a mix of traditional hotel rooms and a number of small suites
which include lounge areas. There are a total of 21 rooms and suites in
the hotel's existing configuration.

Offers in excess of £325,000 are invited for the heritable interest in the
property.
