J&E Shepherd, one of the largest independent firms of chartered surveyors
in the UK, has been awarded a residency licence from the Minister of State
for Jersey and has appointed resident Iain McInnes to head its operation
on the island.
The firm's move to secure a permanent presence for its offshore client
base in Jersey is part of an ongoing development plan to expand its
customers in the Channel Islands and follows Shepherd's recent move into a
prime city centre office in Mayfair as it aims to build upon its
penetration of the capital's vibrant commercial and prime residential
property markets.
Ian Fergusson, Managing Partner at J&E Shepherd said, "We've been working
for a number of clients with a presence in Jersey for many years,
including HSBC Offshore, Kleinwort Benson, Barclays and RBS, so
establishing a permanent presence on the island was a natural progression.
Having previously worked as a surveyor for RBS in the Channel Islands,
Iain's skills, experience and contacts make him the ideal individual to
spearhead our services on the island.
"With many of our London-based clients having developed close links with
offshore offices and banks, it makes strategic sense for us to secure an
offshore operation and Saint Helier is the ideal location."
Having first ventured south of the border in 2001/02, today Shepherd
employs some 200 staff in England and Wales, carrying out full agency,
investment, development, valuation and panel management services, giving
it complete and comprehensive UK coverage.
Established 125 years ago, J&E Shepherd delivers a valuation service
throughout the UK, from a network of 32 offices throughout Scotland and
over 75 locations in England, Wales and the Channel Islands. The firm
offers a multi disciplinary property service to include valuation,
commercial agency, building surveying, rent reviews, development and
investment consultancy, rating and property management.
