J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, one of the largest independent firms of chartered surveyors in the UK, has advised Aberdeen Harbour Board on the acquisition of The Nord Centre, a major industrial complex within Aberdeen.
The site, which extends to over eight acres at York Street adjacent to the busy port’s Telford Dock, accommodates around 100,000 sq ft of industrial and office buildings and is fully let to a number of occupiers, including Bibby Offshore, O.I.L and Global Santafe.
Scott Forsyth, an associate at J & E Shepherd, said, “The Nord Centre provided an excellent opportunity for our clients to acquire a substantial, modern complex with a strong tenancy profile, located with the heart of Aberdeen’s harbour area.
“As such, the acquisition represents a strategically important purchase for Aberdeen Harbour Board which, given the nature of the site, will present future asset management opportunities for our client.”
Aberdeen Harbour Board Secretary, Ian Jessiman, said, “As a strategic acquisition, the investment brings not only rental income, but also provides future opportunities to support quayside operations for port users and other businesses requiring a harbour location. This is in line with the Board’s strategy of providing room for the increasing levels of activity currently being handled at the port.”
A recent independent study revealed that activity at Aberdeen Harbour contributes £420 million per annum into the local economy, helping to sustain up to 11,000 full-time equivalent jobs.
