J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors is marketing a long-established and
successful bakery business in Southwest Scotland for sale as a going
concern for £1.25 million due to retirement.

Founded in the 1800's, M Corson Bakers is well known and respected in the
Stewartry district of Dumfries and Galloway. A highly profitable operation
with retail and wholesale trade, all of M Corson Bakeries' properties -
comprising a modern well-equipped bakehouse facility in Castle Douglas
town centre and four retail shops in Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and
Kirkcudbright - are owned by the business and are included in the sale.

Ian Young, an associate at J&E Shepherd, said, "Our clients have
reluctantly decided to sell the bakery due to the imminent retirement of
one of the partners. The business is being offered for sale as a going
concern, to include all trade equipment within the bakery and the retail
shops."

Corson's main retail shop is located at 156-160 King Street, Castle
Douglas and the company's bakehouse is located directly to the rear, fully
equipped to a high standard suited to modern day production.

A former flat above the shop has latterly been used for storage, although
this could easily be converted back to residential use for staff
accommodation or as a rental opportunity. To the rear is an extensive yard
with good vehicular access, together with garage and storage
accommodation, including a recently constructed dry goods store.

A second shop at 116 King Street operates as a satellite sales outlet to
the bakery's main operation on King Street while a third outlet at St
Cuthbert Street in Kirkcudbright, was extensively renovated and
refurbished last year, offering modern retail space with vehicular access
available over a yard at the rear for the delivery of stock. Another shop
at  High Street, Dalbeattie occupies a prime  trading position in the town
centre of the Stewartry district's biggest town.

The majority of produce is sold in the four retail shops, although the
business also benefits from a good level of wholesale trade. There are
presently 40 staff employed in the business, under a mix of full and part
time contracts, including eight bakers.

The average turnover of the business for the three years ended 31st March
2008 was in the region of £1.2 million per annum.

Mr Young said, "Our clients are willing to be flexible in the disposal of
the business and may consider proposals to purchase only some of the
heritable properties and lease the remainder. We would be pleased to
discuss such proposals and negotiate terms with prospective purchasers."

Offers in excess of £1,250,000 are invited for the business, to include
the heritable property, goodwill and all trade equipment.
