The Meningitis Trust, a registered charity, is working
towards a world that is free from meningitis and meningococcal
septicaemia (blood poisoning) and where those affected receive
quality care and support for life.
Meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia (blood poisoning)
can affect anyone at any time, regardless of age, gender
or cultural background. They can kill within hours and survivors
can be left with disabling after-effects, including brain
damage, deafness and, where septicaemia has occurred, limb
loss.
We’re helping to rebuild lives with our vital services
including a 24-hour nurse-led helpline, professional counselling,
home visiting and financial grants. We’re also trying to
save lives by raising awareness of the disease and through
new research programmes.
Team Hesco is helping the Meningitis Trust to make a difference.
Pete Rowlands, who lost his son to meningitis, and three
other Army Commandos, are competing in the Shepherd Ocean
Fours Rowing Race 2006 across the Atlantic in a bid to raise
£100,000 for the Meningitis Trust so that we can continue
our vital work.
