Wave after wave of adrenalin pumping adventure!
The Shepherd Ocean Fours Rowing Race 2006, sponsored by J &
E Shepherd and organised by Devonshire nautical events company,
Woodvale Events is a rowing race with one very big difference!
Starting from New York harbour, USA on Saturday 10 June 2006,
crews of four will set off to row 3,100 nautical miles unaided,
across the treacherous and sometimes unpredictable North Atlantic
Ocean, finishing in Falmouth, UK approximately 65 days later.
Competing on equal terms in identical purpose designed and built
ocean rowing boats known as Woodvale Fours, the crews will race
to be the first to cross the finish line in the quickest possible
time.
The Shepherd Ocean Fours Rowing Race 2006 is a pioneering event
in many ways, being the first ever ocean rowing race to cross
a North Atlantic route and the first ever ocean rowing race to
finish in mainland UK.
Fifty foot waves, storm force winds, container ships and even
sharks are just some of the obstacles that face the crews participating
in the Shepherd Ocean Fours Rowing Race 2006 to make this, the
ultimate test of strength and endurance!
