Description
The subjects accommodate for Dodburn Water Treatment Works, and accessed via a
single track road. There are five buildings positioned on the site and surrounded by a 2m
perimeter fence, topped with three strands of barbed wire. The mesh gates are secure by
a chain and padlock.
It is understood that surface water from the surrounding land enters the on-site tanks and
flows through the isolated network. Investigations have confirmed that this water is not
connected to or entering Scottish Waters operational network. The water ingress is
localised and related to natural surface water.
On site, there is a settlement tank of concrete and brick construction as well as five slow
sand filter tanks of concrete construction. There is a chamber located outwith the
boundary of the site.
Location
Hawick is situated on the A7 trunk road approximately 50 miles south of Edinburgh in the
heart of the borders. It is one of the largest towns in the Scottish Borders and has a
population of 13,500 residents.
More specifically, the subjects are positioned within a very rural location, approximately 6
miles south of Hawick and accessed via Priesthaugh Road.
Access is defined in the title as being from the public road adjacent to the chlorine dosing
building (Priesthaugh Road) to the title area. Part of the title area includes a large section
of the access road.
