The leafy suburb of Bearsden is an affluent town about six miles northeast of Glasgow City Centre. Despite effectively forming part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation, in local authority terms, it forms part of East Dunbartonshire.

Bearsden has had a settled population as far back as Roman times who were the first to leave significant traces they were here. The Roman Antonine Wall ran through Bearsden and the well-preserved remains of a military bathhouse can be seen not far from the town centre.

The epicentre of Bearsden today lies at Bearsden Cross, a crossroads formed by Drymen Road, Roman Road, and the A809.
