Dundee is unquestionably one of Scotland’s major cities. Approaching across the famous Tay road bridge, Dundee cuts an impressive figure spread across the North bank of the Firth of Tay. An old city which has been established since the 12th century, Dundee was once famous as an important port and centre of industry. Today it is known throughout Scotland and beyond as a thriving cultural centre, with two universities – The University of Dundee and Abertay University – and a branch of the famous V&A museum (the first to open outside of London). Dundee is also world-renowned as a city of serious brainpower, with many of the world’s most important discoveries having been discovered right here.

These days, Dundee is promoted with the slogan “One City, Many Discoveries” in honour of this reputation, as well as the RSS Discovery, Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic exploration vessel, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed at Discovery Point. The city is well known for its prominence in the digital entertainment industry, including mobile app development and gaming.

Continuing Dundee’s successful regeneration into the post-heavy industry age, a £1 billion masterplan to regenerate and reconnect the waterfront to the city centre began in 2001 and is expected to be completed within its proposed 30 year period. Dundee’s V&A is a focal point of this waterfront project.

In recent years, Dundee’s international profile has risen. GQ magazine named Dundee the “Coolest Little City In Britain”; in 2015 and The Wall Street Journal ranked Dundee at number 5 on it’s Worldwide Hot Destination’s list for 2018.

In 2014, the city won the honour of being the first British city to be designated a UNESCO City of Design, in recognition of its many achievements. It is for this and many other reasons that Dundee is today considered an attractive place to live, with a healthy property market that regularly outperforms the UK average.

Dundee has all the property diversity you can expect from a major Scottish city, from large multi-storey townhouses and Victorian-style villas to modern flats and traditional tenements or terraced houses. There are also several new-build estates popping up in response to a consistently buoyant market.
