Who
Alan is Lanarkshire born, he is a partner in our East Kilbride office, also covering Strathaven, Eaglesham, Thortonhall and the surrounding areas.

That Was Then
He began his career with Strathclyde Regional Council’s Assessors Department at the age of 16, 3 years later, having negotiated the RICS exams, he entered the world of private practice, joining Whyte & Barrie. At the tender age of 21 he opened an office in East Kilbride, where he’s established a thriving base.

This Is Now
After 36 years with Whyte & Barrie he merged his firm with Shepherd in December 2024, and looks forward to continuing the work of growing the office and serving the local community.

Rest And Play
Alan is happily married to Linsey and they have 3 daughters, Hannah, Neve and Mia. He enjoys most sports, including golf, running, cycling, badminton and wild swimming. He’s an active member and elder in his local church and trustee in the national church.
