Today, Auchtermuchty is primarily a commuter town for residents working in larger towns of Perth, Glenrothes, St. Andrews, the city of Dundee, Cupar, some even to Edinburgh. Auchtermuchty benefits from excellent road connections. The A91, A92 and M90 provide straightforward access to the rest of Fife, Edinburgh and beyond. Indeed, Edinburgh, the farthest away of the previously mentioned destinations can be reached in just under an hour. Dundee, the next farthest, can be reached in approximately 35 to 40 minutes, and St. Andrews a little faster. While the town itself does not have a railway station, nearby Ladybank (5 miles away) offers regular train services to Edinburgh, Dundee, and Perth. Most residents do commute for work, taking advantage of Auchtermuchty’s peaceful living environment while accessing broader employment opportunities through great transport links.
