Who
David is an Associate Partner heading up the residential valuation department of the St Andrews office.  He is a Chartered Surveyor and an RICS Registered Valuer.

That was then
David left Waid Academy, Anstruther in 2000 and enrolled onto a Quantity Surveying course at Fife College, Kirkcaldy. After gaining an HND in 2002, David saw the light and decided counting bricks wasn’t for him so enrolled onto an Estate Management course at Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh.  During this time, David was working day release within the St Andrews Valuation Department of Hardies LLP to gain on hand experience. After graduating with a BSc in Estate Management in 2004, David began full time employment with Hardies LLP.  He passed his APC training in 2006 to become a Chartered Surveyor.  In 2015 he was promoted to an Associate Partner and continued this role with the merger with Shepherd Surveyors.  David took over the running of the St Andrews office in 2019 after a 2-year secondment to the Kirkcaldy office.

This is now
David works in our residential department and his main duties include conducting Home Reports and general valuation work for banks, lenders and private clients.  David predominantly covers the St Andrews, Cupar and East Neuk Areas.

Who
Douglas is a Chartered Surveyor in our St Andrews office, attaining membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in May 2024. He joined the firm in 2021 as a graduate within the St Andrews team and was subsequently promoted to Associate in 2025.

That Was Then
Douglas completed his undergraduate studies in Economics at the University of Dundee, followed by an MSc in Real Estate Management and Investment at Edinburgh Napier University in 2020/21. His postgraduate work focused on valuation, investment analysis, and the wider economics of the real estate sector.

This Is Now
An Associate in the firm’s Residential Department in St Andrews, covering central and east Fife, Douglas undertakes all aspects of residential valuation, including Home Reports and general valuation work for banks, lenders, and private clients.

Rest And Play
Having grown up in and around St Andrews, Douglas is an avid golfer and a member of The St Andrews Golf Club. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and can often be found attempting to keep up with his two miniature dachshunds, Millie and Eddie.
