Leuchars, a charming town in Fife of roughly 3,000 residents, seamlessly blends historical significance with modern conveniences, making it an appealing destination for residents and visitors alike. Nestled near the northeastern coast of Fife, Leuchars is strategically located, offering excellent transport links, a rich history, and a strong sense of community. The town is nearly 2 miles to the north of the village of Guardbridge, about 7 ½ miles north-east of Cupar and 6 miles northwest from the university town of St Andrews. The city of Dundee is 7 miles to the north, across the rail and road bridges that span the Firth of Tay.

The town had an adjoining Royal Air Force base, RAF Leuchars, which was established in 1920, and was home to the Eurofighter Typhoon. In 2015, the RAF base became an Army base, as the regimental headquarters of 2 Close Support Battalion REME and the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards after 20 years in Germany.

Leuchars is well-connected through various transport links. The Leuchars railway station is a key hub on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen line, offering frequent services to Edinburgh (around an hour), Dundee (15 minutes), Aberdeen (1 hour and 20 minutes), and direct trains to London King’s Cross (5 hours and 30 minutes). Leuchars is also the closest station to St. Andrews and is used by many visitors and university students. By road, the A91 connects Leuchars to St Andrews and the M90 to Edinburgh, while the A92 provides a direct route to Dundee. The town also benefits from a good bus network, with local services linking to nearby towns and long-distance services connecting to major Scottish cities. Leuchars is also close to Dundee Airport and about 50 miles from Edinburgh Airport, both offering various flight options.

In terms of local schooling, Leuchars Primary Schools is the only school in the town. When pupils are of secondary age, they typically attend Madras College or St Leonards High School, both in St. Andrews.
