Who
Borderer Michael is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) a registered Valuer and a Domestic Energy Assessor. He is the Partner in charge of the Galashiels branch.
That Was Then
Michael studied at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh where he achieved an honours degree in Estate Management. After various summer placements, he took on a full time role with a surveying practice in 2007 before joining Shepherd in 2013. Michael joined the Partnership in 2021.
This Is Now
Michael is the Partner in charge of the Galashiels branch. His day-to-day work involves the running of the office, residential survey work including Home Reports, Mortgage Valuation, Private Client valuation and EPC certification.
Rest And Play
Michael lives with his wife and twin daughters in the Scottish Borders. A big sports fan, Michael enjoys all sports. He played rugby for Selkirk RFC in his home town but is now retired and supports from the touchline. He enjoys golf and struggles to play to a handicap of 9. He also enjoys music, ferrying his kids to their various clubs and a couple beers with his friends after the rugby.

Who
Haddington-born William Laidlaw is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and an associate partner based in our Galashiels office.
That was then
Having graduated from Napier University in 1999, he joined the firm that same year in the Edinburgh office. William relocated to the Galashiels office in 2001 and became associate in charge of the office in 2003.
This is now
William has overall responsibility for day to day running of the Galashiels office. His work includes: residential surveying for Home Reports; mortgage valuations; asset valuations; Energy Performance Certificates and the entire spectrum of private client workloads.
Rest and play
A resident of Melrose, William is married and in his spare time enjoys watching rugby, hill-walking and, when his knees allow it, Crossfit.
